Voice&Data:
This is your first assignment as a CIO. How do you find first few months of being a CIO?
Anjani Kumar:
Being a CIO is a totally different experience. You have ownership of the whole IT environment – hardware, connectivity, and network and applications. While on one side you have to manage the expectations of business users, on the other side the customer needs are to be taken care of with respect to all possible interaction mediums with consistent experience. At the same time, I have to propose new technology initiatives, which can make business user’s life easier or bring wow factor to customer experience. Business users and customers also have the expectation of 100% uptime. Balancing all of the above aspects is definitely not easy.
Business user’s expectation has gone up due to various forms of information available.
In IT services industry, mostly we get to see only a few aspects of a client’s IT needs while in CIO role I get to see the complete view.
