Security will need to be designed for the cloud, not bolted on

-

Momentum around adoption of cloud resources for primary workloads is accelerating as companies look to making ICT purchase decisions. This has been a trend with start-ups and very small companies, but the value proposition has worked very well for mid-sized and large companies in 2015.

Migration from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud is not trivial. IT organizations will find it increasingly hard to support the modern workforce without deploying cloud technologies. Applications and data will rapidly migrate to the cloud and end users will expect to be able to access anything from anywhere at any time. Mobility is no longer a feature – it’s the way people work. It’s also not just about end users – IT administrators will also demand cloud-enabled management solutions and mobile apps that enable them to work anywhere. Security and data protection will need to be designed for the cloud, not bolted on.

Also, it is noticeable that the India market has matured and people are gradually but successfully embracing the cloud technology. Large companies are now using cloud for corporate purposes and every smartphone user is using it for personal purposes, which means cloud computing has a great future ahead and the India market will flourish a great deal in years to come.

File sync and share as a standalone business has jumped the shark. Last year, all the largest players have heavily invested in complementary technologies and will reap the benefit of that investment in the near future as smaller players are pushed out and the market consolidates. In the cloud, putting things in ‘boxes’ is no longer enough.

Another aspect that needs to be taken into consideration while gearing up for programs like Digital India is the enormous amount of data. Hence it becomes very important to allocate data storage and also ensure data protection so that information is not compromised. The convergence of Social, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud is leading technology for the next decade, and will act as a catalyst for the futuristic era of ever evolving technologies.
