En­ter­prises need so­lu­tions that are fu­ture-proof and easy to man­age


In to­day’s fast-mov­ing busi­ness en­vi­ron­ment, the size of mo­bile work­force is in­creas­ing rapidly. Em­ploy­ees may not nec­es­sar­ily be at a sin­gle lo­ca­tion and could be dis­persed. They could be at the of­fice, be­tween ap­point­ments, on busi­ness travel or work­ing from home. In­dia has long en­joyed a rep­u­ta­tion as a des­ti­na­tion for IT and busi­ness process out­sourc­ing. They ex­pect to pay only for their cur­rent re­quire­ments, with fu­tur­is­tic per­spec­tive of avail­ing those as their re­quire­ments grow. The ideal so­lu­tion for en­ter­prises should have the ca­pa­bil­ity to ful­fil their fu­ture needs.

Choos­ing a com­mu­ni­ca­tion back­bone should in­volve more than just a ba­sic eval­u­a­tion of fea­tures and func­tions. There are other im­por­tant fac­tors to be con­sid­ered, like open stan­dards, cen­tral­ized man­age­ment, scal­a­bil­ity, high avail­abil­ity, busi­ness con­ti­nu­ity plan­ning, ser­vice, and re­search & devel­op­ment.

Key tech­no­log­i­cal trends in­clude the need of en­ter­prise mo­bil­ity for mo­bile em­ploy­ees, mo­bile de­vice di­ver­sity and man­age­ment, mo­bile apps, uni­fi­ca­tion of voice, video and data, multi-lo­ca­tion con­nec­tiv­ity, se­cure in­te­gra­tion with branch of­fices, and M2M com­mu­ni­ca­tions.
