Sim­plilearn ap­points Ashish Vir­mani as VP

Global ed-tech com­pany Sim­plilearn has ap­pointed Ashish Vir­mani as Vice pres­i­dent – Mar­ket­ing and Cat­e­gories. Vir­mani will fo­cus on driv­ing growth for the busi­ness through in­te­grated plans across mar­ket­ing and cat­e­gory func­tions.

Vir­mani comes with over 11 years of di­ver­si­fied ex­pe­ri­ence across In­dia’s fastest grow­ing start-ups and es­tab­lished FMCG brands as well. He joins Sim­plilearn from FreeCharge where he was the As­so­ciate Vice Pres­i­dent – Mar­ket­ing. Prior to that, he used to head Off­line Mar­ket­ing ini­tia­tives at Flip­kart.

The ap­point­ment is the lat­est in a series of strate­gic hires by Sim­plilearn, as a part of build­ing a strong lead­er­ship team for its rapidly grow­ing pres­ence in In­dia, US and other mar­kets. In March this year, the com­pany hired Ray Rike as Pres­i­dent, Sim­plilearn Amer­i­cas and Anand Narayanan as VP - Prod­uct and En­gi­neer­ing from Rackspace, San An­to­nio, Texas.

Dur­ing his stint at FreeCharge.in, Vir­mani led high im­pact cam­paigns like ‘Recharge nahi FreeCharge’ and the re­cent in­te­grated cam­paign dur­ing IPL as co-spon­sors - #LoDoKhatamKaro. At Flip­kart, he had de­signed suc­cess­ful cam­paigns like ‘Shop­ping ka naya ad­dress’, and ‘Just Flip­kart it’ dur­ing his time at the com­pany. Vir­mani com­pleted his MBA from MDI Gur­gaon in 2005 and his BCom (Hons) grad­u­a­tion from Hindu Col­lege, Delhi.
