CEL­E­BRATES MEX­I­CAN IN­DE­PEN­DENCE DAY

From 15th to 20th Septem­ber, The Ritz-carl­ton Jakarta, Pa­cific Place held a fes­tive Mex­i­can din­ner and brunch buf­fet in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Em­bassy of Mex­ico in In­done­sia to cel­e­brate Mex­i­can In­de­pen­dence Day, which falls on 16th Septem­ber. Guests who en­joyed the fes­tiv­i­ties in­cluded dig­ni­taries from var­i­ous em­bassies as well as mem­bers of the press.

A high­light of the cel­e­bra­tion was the Mod­ern Mex­i­can Din­ner, an ex­quis­ite five-course de­light mas­ter­minded by guest chef Julio Ortega, a ris­ing star in Mex­ico's culi­nary cir­cles. For the first course, guests were treated to the chef's artis­tic twist of tra­di­tional Mex­i­can street food. Corn in four tex­tures fea­tured golden ker­nels that were served grilled as foam, sauce and popped, paired with an in­tox­i­cat­ing blue­berry agave cock­tail with tequila base. Next up was a Mex­i­can-style ce­viche that high­lighted cured fish, roasted chilli ashes and smoked may­on­naise, paired with Rocca delle Ma­cie Orvi­etto Clas­sico Um­bria. The mains in­cluded stuffed poblano chilli and chicken tamale, matched beau­ti­fully with Ona Anakena Viogner Ries­ling Chardon­nay Leyda and Sasyr Rocca delle Ma­cie San­giovese Syrah Rosso Toscana IGT. The meal con­cluded with the chef's deca­dent blue corn and cin­na­mon ice cream, paired with straight Cor­ralejo tequila. ritz­carl­ton.com
