Tourists, Travelers, & Adventure-seekers...
May’s here and when you arrive in Bali for your holiday, you’ll be greeted by the warm gentle breeze and the dazzling blue sky. If March and April were brazenly hot, May brings about slightly gentler temperatures, perfect for enjoying the amazing Bali beaches that are great for some watersports, snorkelling and diving or go inland to explore the gently rolling hills, terraced rice fields and astounding lakes.
The most spectacular events happening in Bali will always be those related to the Balinese’s thousand-year-old culture and religion. You have probably noticed tall bamboo poles lining the streets and entryways – this is one of the biggest indicators that Galungan is around the corner. If you don’t already know, Galungan is the island’s biggest and most important religious celebration, after Nyepi. Preparations can take up to a month before the big day which falls on the 30th of May and ends with Kuningan, 10 days after, in June. To mark this auspicious day, there will be a string of intricate and fascinating ceremonies taking place all around the island. You can bear witness to these stunning ceremonies as the Balinese take to the streets in their pristine spiritual processions as you shop, dine and relax in any of the island’s esteemed establishments. Read more about Galungan and other up-and-coming events in our Don’t Miss pages.
