HERITAGE ARTISANS COIN WATCH

At this year’s Baselworld, artist Aleksey Saburov and Corum unveiled a new limited edition of the latter’s Coin collection: the Hobo Coins. Issued shortly before the Great Depression, these coins were worth so little that even vagrants would rework them to earn a miserly profit. This earned them the name “hobo coins”, created from small change minted by the United States from 1913 onwards, serving as a witness to a distant past of hope and wandering, as well as creativity and popular crafts.

Corum gave the artist the chance to showcase his work in its wellknown Coin collection, reviving the forgotten art of hobo coins in a very limited edition series of unique pieces. Each entirely handengraved Hobo Coin will be a unique piece by definition and turning Corum into the first brand in the world to turn the famous US$20 double eagle coin into a cult timepiece.
