THE CALL OF ADVENTURE
MONTBLANC’S LATEST NOVELTY WAS DESIGNED TO BRAVE EVEN SOME OF THE HARSHEST MOUNTAIN ENVIRONMENTS
As its name implies, the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Chronograph 0 Oxygen comes with a movement that is sealed and devoid of oxygen. Essentially, the zero-oxygen feature on this Geosphere was created to improve the watch’s mountaineering performance by eliminating fogging—which can occur during abrupt and drastic temperature changes at altitude—while at the same time preventing oxidization and also to guarantee the watch’s performance and precision over time, even in some of the harshest mountain environments.
Like in all 1858 Geosphere models, both the Northern and Southern hemispheres are represented in this watch with two threedimensional globes. Also included is a dayand-night indication so that the wearer can see what time it is across the Earth at a simple glance. Fitted with Montblanc’s blue glacier pattern dial, the watch is driven by Montblanc’s MB 29.27 Manufacture automatic chronograph movement with world-time complication.
All that being said, the most unique character of this timepiece is revealed on the back, with a special 3D engraving of Mount Everest along with the names of the world’s Seven Summits—the highest mountains of each continent. Besides the aforementioned Mount Everest there’s also the Kilimanjaro, Mount Elbrus, Denali, Mount Aconcagua, Vinson Massif and Puncak Jaya. A clear sky forms the backdrop to the mountain in a gradient of blue shades.
As a final special touch, the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Chronograph 0 Oxygen, which is limited Edition of 290 pieces, was tested by alpinist Nimsdai Purja earlier this year during an expedition to the summit of Mount Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen.
