A plane crash, freezing weather and snow storms are the perfect ingredients for a romance-disaster movie. At least it does in “The Mountain Between Us.” Based on the bestselling book by Charles Martin, the film centers on two strangers, Dr. Ben Bass (Idris Elba) and Alex Martin (Kate Winslet), who decide to charter a small plane to get home. But then the plane crashes in the middle of a mountain. With the pilot dead and the realization that help is not coming, the two have to embark on a treacherous journey across the wilderness in order to survive and get home.
