After five years at Nicola Formichetti is set to step down as the brand’s artistic director. The news came last December. Having joined the brand in 2013 and being its first artistic director, Formichetti notes in a statement how thankful he is of his time in the brand. “I loved being part of Diesel, starting from its core and its heritage to re-create something newer,” said Formichetti “I thank Renzo for having given me this opportunity, for sharing my vision and for believing in the power of creativity.” In response, Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel, thanked him for their collaboration. “They will remain a special moment in the history of our brand,” Rosso noted of their time working together. “He looked at our past, at our iconic pieces, and refreshed them in the brand DNA, reigniting Diesel’s imagery and branding on the values of freedom and originality.”
