T he Macallan has just unveiled the edition no. 4. This new limited edition whisky embodies the pioneering design and the craftsmanship of the new The Macallan distillery and demonstrates the mastery of whisky-making by the estate since 1824. This fourth release in the innovative edition series explores the whisky-making process, which exposes the detail of its creation for true transparency and continues the diverse story of The Macallan’s exceptional oak casks and the spirits that are matured in them.
This particular edition is a celebration of The Macallan’s heritage as the brand now enters an exciting new era with the creation of two structural masterpieces: the remarkable edition no. 4 and also the magnificent new distillery in speyside, scotland. The launch event for this new special edition whisky was held at the infinite studios, singapore, which was transformed to mirror the lush of speyside’s landscape, while taking inspiration from the brand’s foundation.
Chapter 1: the Journey
on a sensational journey to discover edition no. 4, we were welcomed into a reimagined space that offered a teaser of the new The Macallan distillery. a model of the building took centerstage and drew everyone’s attention to its marvelous design that embodies the brand’s care, passion, and superior craftsmanship, while the construction bears testament to the breadth and depth of The Macallan in creating exceptional single malt whiskies.
fresh from the experience of the breezy, cool countryside of scotland, guests were then led to immerse themselves in the brand’s rich heritage and the foundation stones for its character: The six pillars. greeted by a hanging curved roof that is reminiscent of the undulating timber roof structure of the new distillery, located near the brand’s iconic spiritual home in the easter elchies estate, we got our first taste of the new edition no. 4.
as the party continued well into the night, we were also delighted by the dynamic and intricate aerial installation of edition no. 4 bottles with delicately crafted teardrop-shaped flasks cradling the whisky.
Chapter 2: the Star
while the edition no. 1 and edition no. 2 highlighted the influence each cask has on the taste and flavor of the whisky and the edition no. 3 provided insight into the aromas, the edition no. 4 reveals the structure of the whisky, drawing parallels on how The Macallan distillery is constructed and showcasing the lengths The Macallan will go to for its whiskies.
