Daring Debut
It’s always risky to buy a first-generation camera. There’s always bound to be a nagging flaw or two that upcoming models will eventually sort out. That is not the case, however, with the Nikon Z7. It might not look that impressive and the price point might be a bit discouraging for some, but the camera’s capabilities and handling are more than impressive: The sensor is excellent and so is the image stabilization. Add to that a top-notch EVF (electronic viewfinder), good dynamic range and a host of other welcome qualities. The Z7 might not be ideal for beginners or sport photographers (due to its relatively shallow burst depth), but as a whole, this is one of those cameras that in the years ahead will be regarded as a classic.
