Carlos Miranda is an actor known for his roles in “Warrior” and “The Bling Ring.” Now, he plays Johnny Sanchez on Starz’s critically acclaimed drama series “Vida,” whose second season is currently being developed. “It’s about two sisters, who basically discover, after their mother passed away, that she was a lesbian,” Miranda elaborated. “Aside from that, she also left them a family bar that’s in huge debt. While being in town and trying to find out a solution, both of them are trying to face and deal with many issues like love, trust, betrayal, sexuality, identity, family, etc.”
And indeed it delivers, with many critics praising “Vida” for its strong cast, universal theme and authenticity. As a matter of fact, it received a 100-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “My character is a good guy from the neighborhood. He’s a mechanic who runs his dad’s shop. He has a wonderful fiancé and baby on the way,” Miranda explained. “But then again, he has a rich history with Lyn [Melissa Barrera], and it causes him to make some irresponsible choices.”
Miranda has also completed a 15-min short thriller film titled “End Trip,” which he wrote, directed, produced and starred in. “It’s pretty much about a not-sogood rideshare trip and I play as a chatty passenger who opens and closes the story,” he said. He also landed a starring role in the comedy film “Senior Moment” alongside Christopher Lloyd and William Shatner. Looking to the future, he wants to continue trying his hands at directing. Then Miranda disclosed: “As a matter of fact, I’m preparing for directing another short movie that I wrote, sooner than later, hopefully.”
