With the success of their first two hotels in Shenzhen and Beijing, Japanese homeware and fashion retailer MUJI opened the third, in the heart of their capital’s posh district.

MUJI Hotel Ginza ( 6F, 3-3-5, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; +81-3-3538-6101; hotel. muji.com/ginza) offers the same clean minimalist theme as their stores with the neutral tones and light wooden furniture – plus the staying in option. And it is definitely minimal, with only 79 rooms available where the most compact measured at just 2.1m across wall-to-wall, while the largest covered only 52sqm. Yet 79 is just a number, because there are nine different types of rooms, varied between single, double, twin and even bunked rooms. Facilities include two restaurants, one bakery, a coffee shop-slash-bar and (of course) a MUJI store.
