DA MAN

HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING

-

F irst and foremost, I would like to wish you, our dear readers, a happy, prosperous and—perhaps most importantly—a hopeful 2021. It goes without saying that last year was hard for everyone, and all we could think of was how to survive, how to keep going. Today, I would say that many of us have started building up the courage to hope for—and to explore—new things.

This renewed confidence is certainly something that we’ve seen in the personalities we’ve chosen to highlight in our first issue this year. In the lineup we have American actors Ronen Rubenstein and Hunter Doohan—who are currently appearing in hit TV shoes “9-1-1: Lone Star” and “Your Honor,” respectively, along with Jack Dylan Grazer who you might have seen in “It,” “It Chapter Two,” “Shazam!” and also the new “We Are Who We Are.” Grazer, in particular, gave us the perfect “child actor grows into a mature performer” story, which makes for quite a read as he tells us about exploring new characters and new roles.

And speaking of new, we also have someone who we might have never featured in DAMAN in previous years. I’m talking about Paul Rabil, top tier lacrosse player and top tier entrepreneur. Lacrosse is, of course, not exactly a mainstream sport in Indonesia; but as it might just become part of the Olympics soon, interest in this full contact team number might just reignite here. Besides, Rabil’s story about his passion for lacrosse, sportsmanship and his entrepreneurial spirit is definitely worth a read.

Rounding up our February/March lineup we have up-and-coming Indonesian actor Angga Yunanda, who is also taking on new challenges in our homegrown movie industry.

On that note, I invite you to flip through the pages ahead to discover a glimpse of what new things await us in this new year, from new fashion collections, new watches being launched, new fragrances just introduced and tales shared from the aforementioned storytellers. Don’t forget as well to follow us on social media and visit our website for even more stories. Happy reading...
