CYRIL KONGO COLLABORATES WITH THE APURVA KEMPINSKI BALI TO DEBUT AN ATELIER THAT’S INSPIRED BY HIS MULTICULTURAL BACKGROUND AND THE RESORT’S UNIQUE HERITAGE

As one of the world’s leading graffiti artists, Cyril Kongo is no stranger to high-profile collaborations. He has previously teamed up with the likes of Hermès, Richard Mille, Daum, La Cornue, Maserati and Chanel. Earlier this year, the AsianFrench artist who has made multiple headlines in the art world unveiled his recent collaboration project with five-star resort The Apurva Kempinski Bali titled L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo.

“I feel grateful to have the opportunity to share my contemporary vision and savoir-faire with Indonesia. My passion is to create bridges between universes: between the know-how and culture of Indonesia and my know-how and multicultural background,” explained Kongo about the venture. “For me, everything at The Apurva Kempinski Bali is authentic, a symbol of unity in diversity, which delineates my values. It is such an honor to be part of this journey and create new stories.”

Inspired by the unity in diversity approach of the resort, Cyril Kongo has discovered the perfect stage to bring his art and effortless savoir-faire to Indonesia.

Bali, for its part, has been carefully curated to celebrate the culture, heritage and philosophy of the Majapahit era with modern Balinese architecture that pays homage to the island’s natural landscapes and manmade temples, as well as opulent interior spaces created by Indonesia’s finest craftsmen and artisans that pay tribute to the country’s rich design heritage.

Situated at the highest level of the resort with breathtaking views of the ocean, the L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo occupies a space that has been transformed into an iconic, bold and artistic studio as well as a moderncontemporary gallery.

To top it off, alongside the newly launched working studio, Kongo also brings a new dimension to the atelier’s outdoor terrace. Aesthetically, from an invisible-gray wall, Kongo’s meticulous graffiti art exposes this mysterious al fresco space that is ordinary in people’s eyes, and he turns it into a vibrant façade.

As a final touch, Kongo adds his passion for the refined way of living and transforms it into a series of extraordinary features under the name “Kongo Lifestyle” with his favorite indulgences from the world’s most premium Cuban cigars, to a carefully-selected list of high-end spirits, which is completed with a DJ performance and Kongo’s painted white piano in the background that can be enjoyed by guests.

L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo is open from Wednesday to Sunday, and a reservation in advance is mandatory.
