An Icon Modernized Streetwear Elevated
Incepted in the late ’90s, the Air Max Sunder is among Nike’s most unique creations and after years of not getting an update, the sneakers got a special customization by Comme de Garçons. This new design is a result of Rei Kawakubo’s creativity and comes in three new iterations: triple white, triple black and white/black. However, the most striking element is arguably the simplification on the exterior through the addition of a zipper fastening that covers the shoe laces. A small swoosh finds itself embedded on the upper and the tongue is emblazoned with the “AIR” branding embroidery. Furthermore, the piece is crafted using premium neoprene and nubuck and features the signature Air midsole that represents the sportswear label’s DNA.
Continuing their love story from 2021, Lanvin and Gallery Dept. released their second collaborative creation. The L.A.-based brand’s founder, Josué Thomas, was given carte blanche to add his own twist to the French maison’s pieces. At the same time, Bruno Sialelli had a vision to highlight the urban style of the house’s items and was inspired by ’90s skate culture. The result is a capsule collection playing as an intersection between unique creativity and luxury heritage. A range of ready-to-wear items can be found in the collection, from a pinstripe T-shirt embellished with “LANVIN” embroidery to windbreakers, hoodies and a suit amped up with paint splatters. The signature Curb Sneakers also make their appearance in the collection, bearing the same treatment, as well as a biker jacket with studded details.
