BMW PRESENTS ANOTHER ALLELECTRIC VARIANT OF THE NEW SPORTS ACTIVITY VEHICLE (SAV): THE IX1 EDRIVE20 M SPORT

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

At first glance, one of the most notable highlights is how the BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport’s surface design, lines and exterior accent details clearly display its Sports Activity Vehicle identity. Of particular note, it’s clear to see the distinctive design features include strong proportions, almost square wheel arch contours and typical BMW X model styling at the front and rear ends.

LED headlights, a sizeable BMW kidney grille in an almost square shape, the X-shaped lines to the sides and eyecatching chrome strips on the lower air intake, all contribute to the striking new design. Moreover, to accentuate the characteristics of BMW’s fullelectric vehicles, the new BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport is also equipped with BMW i Blue accents.

Moving inside, the elevated seating position and progressive premium ambience exemplified by the BMW iX creates a distinctive driving experience in this compact SAV. Key elements of the redesigned cabin are a sleek instrument panel, a floating armrest with an integrated control panel, smartphone tray and indirect lighting in front of the center console, and a BMW Curved Display.

It’s safe to say that the BMW Curved Display is the heart of the display and control system. It consists of a 10.25inch Information Display and a Control Display with a 10.7-inch screen under a common glass surface curved towards the driver. Also worth noting is that the latest BMW iDrive generation features a redesigned start screen with “QuickSelect,” facilitating direct access to functions without having to navigate through various submenus. Designed for intuitive touch operation and natural language control, this system aligns with contemporary trends in consumer electronics, thereby optimizing the user experience.

ON THE ROAD

On the technical side of the car, the new BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport is endowed with the current fifthgeneration BMW eDrive technology. It has a maximum torque of 250 Nm in addition to a maximum output of 150 kW/204hp and a range of 474km. The highly integrated drive unit on the front axle of the new entry-level model allows this compact SAV to impressively accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds.

However, the most important highlight is the high-voltage battery, which has a usable energy of 64.78 kWh and is housed on the vehicle floor to save space. Together with the efficiency of the e-motor, its high energy density contributes to the car’s favorable power consumption and delivers excellent range.

The Combined Charging Unit inside the car enables AC charging with up to 22 kW as the standard, allowing the high-voltage battery to be charged from zero to 100-percent of its capacity within 6.5 hours. If you’re in a hurry, the battery’s state of charge can also be increased from 10 to 80-percent within only 29 minutes at a fast-charging station, with the short charging times coming from a particularly efficient charging software.

Maps navigation system, numerous modern driver assistance systems and innovative digital services, the Parking Assistant, as well as the abovementioned BMW iDrive with “QuickSelect” which all enable a more comprehensive range of digital content for information and entertainment.
