EPICURE’S CHOICE
The things we crave this month
Nestled on the third floor of 40C Harding Road, Maduro is the brainchild of Mr. P, one of Singapore’s most sought-after jazz pianists in the 80's. Velvet and leather couches and a well-stocked bar fill the posh jazz lounge, while a quaint balcony overlooks the lush greenery of Dempsey. The music programme is also inspired by the local jazz scene: budding jazz musicians take the stage on 1819 Tuesdays; Tiara Friday Club pays homage to the defunct Tiara Supper Club at Shangri-la Hotel; and Saturday’s Best features the month’s artist-in-residency. Enjoy the tunes while you nurse a Mr. P’s GNT or Maduro Negroni ($22 each) and graze on a plate of Truffle Brie ($19) or Rilettes ($15) from its French restaurant neighbour, Atout.
Men can look forward to receiving their own robin egg blue box with Tiffany & Co.’s first ever full men’s collection. This month, the famed jeweller will release two product lines in 18k yellow gold and sterling silver. The Tiffany 1837 Makers collection consists of utilitarian hardware pieces inspired by American sports culture and history, such as the made-to-order sports trophy-inspired Tiffany 1837 Makers Trophy Ring. The Diamond Point collection focuses on stark graphics and an elevated style in a range of cufflinks and pendants.
Five Founders has launched Australia’s first carbon neutral certified beef. Brought in by Singapore-based Alternative Selection, each of the 14 cuts available comes from Five Founder’s fully traceable, hormone-free cattle. Raised on the fertile grasslands of the North Australian outback, the Alexandria-kynuna cattle are 100-day grain finished and boast a clean, natural flavour. Each cow is completely utilised to reduce waste and can be enjoyed in a multitude of ways, including the MB2+ marbling score ribeye ($9.88/100g) and sirloin ($7.18/100g), and rump cap steak ($5.80/100g).
