The fourth vintage of LVMH’S luxury Chinese wine has been released, and there are a few changes. It’s the first time that Syrah (4%) and Petit Verdot (2%) has been added to the blend, which comprises mainly Cabernet Sauvignon (74%) and Cabernet Franc (20%); as well as the first time that the blend was decided at sea level rather than at the winery which is at 2,000m above sea level. Also using lesser new oak, the 2016 is elegant and restraint from the first impression, with classic red fruit nose and plush, gentle tannins. While the salty, mineral finish helps to identify it as a non-old World wine, it has a definite complexity that Bordeaux lovers will embrace. $398 from shop.themoomba.com
