Are you tired of working at home? Has the creativity juice stops flowing? Desa Potato Head offers the perfect remedy for your work from home burnout. The beachfront creative village in Seminyak is the perfect destination to stay, create and play. It is made up of Potato Head Beach Club, the 168-room Potato Head Studios, a myriad dining venues and “good times, do good” activities to keep you occupied.

Whether you need to escape for just a few days or taking a month-long break from the city, you are invited to live a balanced life by the beach at Potato Head Studios. Designed in partnership with David Gianotten at OMA, the village aims to challenge the notion of “exclusive enjoyment, detached from the life of the local community”. True to the vernacular ethos, the building is outfitted with local, recycled and sustainable materials. Handcrafted pieces made by small-scale local artisans can be found throughout in the studios.

Opt for Sunrise, Bamboo or Desa Studios with its adjoining work station where you can comfortably work while social distancing. Alternatively, book the Oceanfront Studio for a stunning view from your private balcony. Make the most of the resort’s all-inclusive guest access to the beachfront poolside area where you get a priority daybed; Studio Eskotika for its coworking facility, curated library and listening facility; as well as daily yoga flow session and nourishing breakfast.

Sustenance and sustainability receive special attention at Desa Potato Head. Led by executive chef Wayan Kresna Yasa

whose past experiences include Acadia and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, local and artisanal produce are put centre stage in all of the dining destinations. IJEN’S farm-to-table concept, authentic Indonesian regional cuisine at KAUM, fresh wood-fired pizza at Pizza Garden, nourishing nosh at the Beach Club, and plantbased dishes at Tanaman are the progressive culinary offerings you can savour at Desa Potato Head.

“Food is an inseparable part of our life. Here, we want to promote a healthy, connected life through food – where the farmers, fishermen, cooks, consumers, even the composters are all connected in the life cycle of food. This connection is the reason why we serve our food in family-style sharing plates,” says Kresna Yasa. A holistic zero waste approach has also been applied throughout the village. From procurement where only reusable crates are accepted to recycled restaurant’s amenities, the village’s Sustainism Lab has been busy experimenting and churning out creative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Guests are welcomed to join one of their workshops or get involved in Sweet Potato Project farming initiative to help community that needed support during the pandemic.
