: What are your responsibilities?

C: I am directly responsible for the strategic direction as well as the operational performance of Pullman Jakarta Indonesia’s food and beverage division, keeping it in line with our pillars and goals.

: What makes a typical day?

C: Expect the unexpected! I start my job at around 7am by checking out all the meeting rooms and breakfast venues. During lunch and dinner I also do my rounds to greet guests, oversee operations and connect with colleagues on any possible challenges or updates they might have.

: Your best attribute?

C: I love to develop people. I usually measure my success based on my team’s development and have built a reputation for the training and career development of my colleagues, as well as developing restaurant managers into highly successful leaders. My dream every time I move into a new property is to create a winning team and to always find candidates internally.

: Team player or team leader?

C: I think you have got to be both – you should relate to your team members, guide them through problems and have fun. I usually gain respect by showing them by example how to perform a task before delegating it and ensuring expectations are clearly outlined.

: Who has been the most influential figure in your career to date?

C: My management style has changed throughout my career. I am grateful for my mentors and role models. It is important for my development to take as much as possible from each of my leaders.

: Name one really special thing about your hotel or restaurant? C: Our talented colleagues! I am extremely fortunate to work with such a fantastic, young and passionate “heartist” team. They are simply our most important assets.

: How do you unwind?

C: Watching my football team, AC Milan, playing on TV and dining out is what I like to do most on the weekends!

: Dead or alive, who would you like to take out to dinner? C: That’s a tricky one... so many wishes! I would say my grandfather (from my father’s side) – unfortunately I never got to meet him as he passed away before I was born; he also used to be an hotelier. I am sure this is one of the reasons why I have chosen this career path.
