Makan Place, a newly opened hot spot in Le­gian, is al­ready bustling with din­ers de­spite be­ing open for just a few weeks. The black bam­boo struc­ture with its trop­i­cal plants and chic green and blue fur­ni­ture is home to an ex­cit­ing con­tem­po­rary menu of Asian and Western com­fort foods cre­ated by Ja­vanese-born chef Theodorus Immanuel, who has in­ter­na­tional ex­pe­ri­ence as well as hav­ing par­tic­i­pated in MasterChef In­done­sia. Pop­u­lar dishes in­clude the 800g Ba­li­nese Crack­ling Pork Knuckle, var­i­ous salad bowls and desserts such as Roed­jak and choco­late panna cotta. The liq­uid chefs, or bar­tenders, are de­voted to us­ing char­coal in their cre­ations for its health ben­e­fits. A must try is the sig­na­ture Char­coal Af­fogato.
