Exquisite Taste - - Best Mediterranean Restaurant : Jakarta -

Rosso at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta is a cosy restaurant open for lunch and dinner with comfortable seating that encourages long meals and long conversations. The open iron lattice dividers add nooks and crannies for added privacy while allowing the natural light to flood in. The combination of natural tones and vibrantly coloured ceiling panel and lights, of course featuring plenty of red hues, add to the warm ambience. As befits an Italian restaurant, the welcome is friendly and the menu full of authentic Italian temptations inspired by Chef Gianfranco (Franco) Pirrone's childhood memories, prepared using the finest ingredients and plated with refined flair. Some of the herbs are even picked from the hotel's Shang Garden nursery.

Among the many choices on the menu, the tuna tartare with saffron sauce makes a fresh and zingy start to your meal and can be followed by a selection of freshly made pastas and gourmet pizzas. If you're stuck for choice, we suggest the pasta trio of seafood ravioli with pesto, spinach and pumpkin gnocchi with parmesan sauce and beetroot spaghetti with gorgonzola cheese, or one of the gorgeous risottos. If you're a pizza fan, the porcini mushroom and foie gras pizza is a must. For heartier fare, it has to be the chef's mom's favourite grilled lamb chops with porcini mushroom and roasted garlic-truffle risotto, or one his seafood dishes with a Sicilian twist. A small lunchtime brunch is available daily, with more choices on Sunday, and the drinks menu is perfectly matched to the hearty Mediterranean fare.
