The Macallan is back with Edition No. 4, the latest from the Edition series, showcasing unmistakeable aromas, flavours and characteristics.

The world's leading whisky distillery, The Macallan, has bloomed from a single malt whisky brand to respected household name – a lifestyle. Founded in 1824, quality and distinctive flavour, aroma and character have always been consistent through the years. Every bottle from every series ever launched by The Macallan showcases unique qualities and flair, making each and every one of them a collectible item, sought after by the perpetually growing band of enthusiasts and collectors from all over the world.

After the success of the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 in the Edition Series, The Macallan is back with the latest limited edition whisky, the elaborate Edition No. 4. The Edition Series is known for embodying the artisan details of whisky-making mastery – including the elaborate stories of The Macallan's exceptional oak casks that play a big part in the whisky-making process itself.

After Edition No. 1 that emphasised the casks' impact on the taste and flavour, Edition No. 2 and its connection and compatibility to flavours crafted by respected restaurateurs Roca brothers and Edition No. 3 that delved into the fragrant world of aromas, the fourth release focuses on the structure of the whisky. The detailed

process of whisky making – from beginning to end, including the necessary factors to be considered and incorporated, is juxtaposed with the complexity of The Macallan Distillery's building process. Just last year, the all-new and improved Macallan Distillery was launched in Speyside, offering a Visitor Experience that proves that The Macallan is more than just a brand, it is the home of traditional whisky culture.

The Macallan Edition No. 4 was born from the combination of European and American oak casks, comprising European oak sherry-seasoned casks from Tevasa as the foundation, European oak sherry-seasoned casks from Jose y Miguel Martin and Diego

Martin Rosado and American oak sherryseasoned cask from Vasyma.

In a nutshell, the casks create a zesty and vibrant single malt, with rounded honey, sweet toffee and citrus fruits as the fore notes. Elaborated, the casks from Tevasa ignite the rich notes of dried fruit and a layer of wood spices and root ginger, the casks from Martin and Rosado hint at dried fruit, dates and figs, while those from Vasyma balance the structure, with a vanilla, toffee and butterscotch conclusion.

“Edition No. 4 is a celebration of The Macallan's whisky-making heritage as we enter an exciting new era, marking the coming together of our history and new horizons in the creation of two structural masterpieces: a remarkable whisky and a magnificent new distillery,” explained Nick Savage, The Macallan Master Distiller. “This is a truly spectacular single malt, delivering a rounded honey and sweet toffee aroma and an intense burst of nutmeg with wood spices on the palate. A powerful and invigorating mouth feel, as if standing on top of the new distillery roof in the Speyside breeze. A combination of carefully selected sherry-seasoned oak casks brings out unique refreshing qualities and delivers an unforgettable whisky experience.”
