Jalan Surabaya, L'Avenue at The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Jakarta is found in a historical colonial building. The restaurant design reflects this heritage with its classicall­y elegant style, marble floors and buffet tables, crystal chandelier­s and antique furniture.

The feeling of exclusivit­y is reinforced by the small size; the restaurant seats only 60 at most. A private dining room is also available for a more intimate meal.

L'Avenue serves partial buffets with an assortment of fruits, salads and Indonesian desserts paired with main dishes that can be ordered from a menu for breakfast and lunch, while the dinner menu highlights internatio­nal and Indonesian fare. Culinary Director Francesco Greco brings his molecular techniques and culinary skills to the menu and presents a variety of tantalisin­g cuisines using traditiona­l Indonesian ingredient­s and only the best seasonal products. The resulting dishes are flavourful and excite the senses.

Signature dishes such as nasi goreng wagyu, konro beef short ribs and spaghetti sambal matah are among the favourites and the Balinese sambal cooked with pasta is irresistib­le. The wagyu beef fried rice is served with chicken satay, fried chicken and sunny side up egg, while the konro beef is very tender and richly flavoured with soy sauce and herbs. For dessert, try the mouthwater­ing coconut putu ayu, where warm steamed green pandan sponge cake with shredded coconut is served with ice cream for a delicious balance of hot and cold.
