It is no surprise that Swept Away at The Samaya Ubud is a popular choice for diners looking to relax, unwind and take in the peace found in nature, as well as those celebrating a special occasion – from romantic proposals to milestone wedding anniversaries. The beautiful setting is enchantingly presented to fully embrace its surroundings, whether it's a sunny tropical day or a balmy Bali evening.

Set on multiple levels of an unspoiled lush green riverbank in the resort's garden, during the day this is a verdant al fresco venue where guests can choose to sit in the shade, on the wooden decking overlooking the river or in the gardens.

At night-time, famed for its 100 Candlelight Dinners, the whole venue turns into a magical grotto with candles scattered throughout the gardens, on the tables and strategically placed in heartshaped candle holders to offer a distinct feeling of romance. Diners who are celebrating a special occasion, or even just making the most of the ambience, can choose from a variety of secluded locations, some directly alongside the rushing river, where even more candles and flower petals add to the love.

Swept Away is more than just a beautiful restaurant, however, with both an à la carte menu and, in the evening, a four and six-course degustation menu of signature dishes, all offered alongside an extensive wine list, delicious cocktails, ice-cold beers and, of course, bubbles. Lunches are light affairs, while the late afternoons are ideal for the Asian-style tapas enjoyed with a glass of two of your favourite tipple.

For dinner, the menu is packed with a fine selection of refined international and Indonesian dishes. Indulge your taste buds with appetizers like chilled lobster and chicken with honeydew melon, chilled prawns and barbecued pork with mango, seared scallops, or the Balinese-style ginger prawns for an impressive start to your meal, then venture on to mains like duo of beef with foie gras, crispy red snapper or goats cheese and ricotta tortellini, or explore Indonesian favourites like the fall-off-the-bone spicy grilled pork ribs, grilled oxtail soup, or crispy fried fish.

The dessert menu is equally tempting with popular options including the pandan crème brûlée, which is served with a superbly refreshing orange sorbet, as well as a cheese plate. Coffees and digestifs bring to a close a delightful meal that pampers all the senses, served by an attentive team who help ensure an idyllic dining experience.
