Indonesia Design - Defining Luxury

Luxury is in the Eye of the Beholder

- Lina Gan EDITOR IN CHIEF

Every year, id publishes an edition dedicated to defining luxury to give a glimpse into that opulent lifestyle through none other than design. Luxury is most often associated with wealth because it involves affording all the worldly things you crave for.

To me, being able to take a break from work emails and tuning in to my favourite show is my personal definition of luxury. So, despite what you see in this edition, the meaning of luxury remains personal to you.

Flip through our pages to see what you get when you cross luxury and design. From dreamy homes to extravagant yachts and hotels, our curated selections have one thing in common: great design. Luxury can be felt, seen and enjoyed in a space where all the aspects are well designed and well thought of.

In design, luxury is a process. It starts as early as choosing the plot of land you want to build on – it determines the sense of place, accessibility and eventually, the view! Luxury won’t be holistically achieved without considering something as significant as choosing the right designer and something as particular as the placement of your furniture. Go ahead and enjoy this edition on luxury.
