Appreciating Indonesian Culture

Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta hosted a two-week event showcasing several elements of Indonesian culture through art. Kala – which means “performing arts” in Sanskrit; is a representation of the series of events such as traditional Wayang performances, museum exhibitions, a historical tour of Hotel Indonesia, a museum tour in the Kota Tua area, as well as a feast of traditional Indonesian food.

The event kicked off at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, where the lobby was transformed into a museum featuring collections from the Wayang Museum, Textile Museum as well as the Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum at Kota Tua. However, the highlight of Kala was the closing event; a fashion presentation by Saptodjojokartiko, where pieces of clothing inspired by wayang kulit were showcased at the iconic Bali Room at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta.
