Indonesia Design - Defining Luxury
Sculptural Furniture
Still on the topic of sculptural finesse, Thomas Barger designs oddly shaped camp-inspired furniture pieces like this chair. Titled “Ornament is a Shaker Crime”, the paper pulp sculpture is a loud combination of blue and yellow and is a nod to his younger years growing up in a rural environment.
The New York-based artist unveiled the chair as part of a series of home objects in his solo exhibition “Sugar
Dish”. Through “Sugar Dish” he confronts his relationship participating in a commercial market and reflecting on what luxury used to mean to him.
