Revitalising the Jakarta Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum

-

In order to welcome National Museum Day on 12 October, the “Lini Narasi Baru” or “New Narrative Line” Exhibition was held. It exhibited the collection of the Jakarta Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum, which was renovated by Cosmas Gozali, renowned architect and chair of the Facilities and Infrastructure at the Jakarta Museum Mitra Foundation in collaboration with the Jakarta Regional Government.

The Jakarta Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics, which has more than 500 collections of high artistic and historical value, require new spatial planning according to new standards. Some of the changes include new panel colours; blue, grey and maroon, which were chosen to enhance and enliven the exhibited art and give depth to the dimensions of the room inside the white heritage buildings.

The restoration of the space through the corridor was done by expanding the exhibition area using temporary panel walls and glass walls, so that visuals are still in accordance with the architectural flow of the building. Artificial lighting using LED lights with a capacity of 2700 K was also used to highlight the artwork and its original colour.

Technological innovation was also a part of this process. Augmented Reality (AR) technology was installed to enable visitors to interact directly with the artwork. Other contemporary flavours added are instagrammable photo spots so that everyone can learn, enjoy and share their experience in a fun and interesting way.
