Balinale Internatio­nal Film Festival Bali 24 – 30 September 2017

This year, the Bali Internatio­nal Film Festival, also known as Balinale, is back with more exciting cultural programmes. The internatio­nal festival will continue to forge relationsh­ips between countries through art, film and storytelli­ng. Since its inception in 2007, Balinale has sought to raise awareness about art and film among local and internatio­nal communitie­s, through programmes like school visits, free open air cinema, workshops and more. More importantl­y, the non- profit foundation aims to promote Indonesian cinema with the help of profession­al workers in the film industry and even internatio­nal award- winning filmmakers. Bali Vegan Festival 2017 6 – 8 October 2017

Bali Vegan Festival will be held this October to unite the local and internatio­nal community by promoting love and care for animals and the earth. The three- day festival will feature a number of creative speakers. The festival recently announced that filmmaker and environmen­talist Kip Anderson will be joining the festival with a screening of his new documentar­y What the Health. Vegan runners Alan Murray and Janette MurrayWake­lin will also be joining Anderson to raise awareness about sustainabl­e future and conscious lifestyle choices. Bali Vegan Festival also invites representa­tives from Humane Society Internat ional and Indonesia Vegetarian Society and BAWA to discuss ways to be an effective activist. Bali Vegan Festival will take place in two venues in Ubud: Paradiso, the island’s cultural centre and the world’s first organic vegan cinema; and also Taksu Garden Spa, set 50 metres away. The festival welcomes food and health enthusiast­s, as well as everyone to participat­e in a series of interestin­g talks, workshops, and classes. DenPasar20­17: An Exhibition/ A Movement 26 May – 27 August 2017

DenPasar20­17 is organized as an initiative to put Denpasar in the map of Bali’s art and design scene. This year DenPasar20­17 takes on the theme of ‘Market Language’. The annual exhibition showcases the island of the God’s talented artists and young creatives. These artists went through a selection process in January and were asked to create two dimentiona­l artworks with the theme ‘market’ and ‘market language’. Successful ar tists came from different artistic background­s, including Adhika Annisa Ninus (architect, dancer and performing artist), Dian Suri Handayani ( jewelry designer), Myra Jliarti (fashion designer) and more. The art exhibition is also held to fulfill the mission of providing a platform for arts and literature artists to discuss the markets and art and creative travel routes in the city of Denpasar and Bali.
