Hong Kong-based Indonesian designer Mardiana Ika joins January’s Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

The Oriental Fashion Show featuring 21 Oriental designers stole Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, which ran for five days in January. The grand fashion parade presented at the revamped Hotel de Crillon promoted leading designers with Oriental inspirations and flaunted the wealth and diversity of the clothing and cultural heritage of the East.

To fashion designer Mardiana Ika, who shuttles between Hong Kong and Bali, the chance to present her creations at the vintage hotel was the perfect entrance into the haute couture milieu. “It was a last minute decision to participate in this three-day event,” admitted Ika in a phone chat. Aside from Ika, who markets her collection under the label Ika Butoni, also worth attention were collections by Vertuoses (France), Blanche (Morocco), Madlen Collection (Russia), and Aya Hammoud (the Lebanon).
