Yogyakarta ranks among my top holiday destinations. What I like the most about it is that the city has a rich cultural and traditional ambience although it is also equipped with modern facilities. I felt the the same when I stayed at Hotel Tentrem. From the outside it looks like a very modern building, but as soon as I stepped inside the lobby, I could immediately feel the traditional Jogja ambience inside the hotel. From the greetings given in Javanese language to the unique welcoming jamu (traditional Indonesian herbal drink), Javanese culture is very rich here. True to its name, “Tentrem”, in Javanese, means “a feeling of peace and calm”. It also implies the whole concept of harmony between the universe and human beings, creating peace and serenity between them. Focusing on five-star-plus service and facilities, this hotel brings a luxury concept combined with notable local touches.

THE SUITE LIFE

Hotel Tentrem’s stunning and exquisite interior design celebrates tradition and modernity. The hotel’s 274 suites and rooms provide heav- enly accommodation, even for the most discerning of travellers. There is a variety of rooms to choose from including the 273 square metre Tentrem Presidential Suite, which offers a true definition of luxury. This one-bedroom suite features a spacious open living and dining area, work desk, his-and-hers baths, deluxe spa products, private Jacuzzi, private bar, powder room, walk-in closet and large balcony. You do not have to lift a finger if staying at the presidential suite as your 24-hour butler is on hand to make your stay a most comfortable one. If you’re staying at Hotel Tentrem, you must try Gaharu Spa. Upon entering the spa, you can tell that Hotel Tentrem is serious when it comes to pampering, for every single detail is carefully thought out to ensure that you will enjoy a most relaxing time. The spa even boasts treatment rooms specially designed for kids. The hardest part, I would say, is choosing your treatment from the wide-ranging spa menu. My advice is to choose the Royal treatment.

FEAST FORA KING

Whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Kayumanis Coffee Shop serves your favourite dishes in a distinc- tively designed buffet setting that also has a la carte dining. I have to admit that at my first breakfast experience the choice of food on offer was mind-blowing; it is definitely the best buffet breakfast in town. Tentrem’s Eboni Bar and Lounge offers snacks, and a large selection of speciality coffees and teas in a casual, yet cutting-edge atmosphere. Be sure to try the finest gourmet coffee while you are there. The Grand Duck King Chinese Restaurant promises an extraordinary dining experience and impeccably delicious dishes. The growing Duck King chain offers 400 varieties of Oriental culinary delights.
