supermodel and philanthropist Petra Nemcova returns to Jakarta on March 18 to join Plaza Indonesia and Prestige (as Official Media Partner) in raising funds to build schools for areas of Indonesia devastated by natural disasters. The joyful occasion is the 24th Anniversary Annual Charity Gala of Indonesia’s pioneer luxury shopping centre.

The grand affair will feature a charity auction during which high-society guests will bid for exclusive selected items donated by Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Cartier, Chopard and Dior. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Happy Hearts Fund, the non-profit foundation Petra launched after recovering from her terrible ordeal when she was nearly killed in Thailand during the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004.

“We chose to work with Happy Hearts Fund for this year’s gala because we share the same concern Petra has for education,” says Mia Egron, Chief Commercial Officer of Plaza Indonesia. “Indeed, we have much in common, for the Plaza Indonesia Foundation works on projects to empower Indonesian teachers and students.”

Since its launch in 2005, Happy Hearts Fund has built or rebuilt more than 85 kindergartens and schools in seven countries. In Indonesia, it has built 66 schools in the Bandung, Yogyakarta and other areas. The target for the event on March 18 is to raise funds the build 10 schools to aid victims of the recent Jakarta floods.

Held in the Grand Ballroom of Grand Hyatt Jakarta, the gala will include a fivecourse dinner and music played by the Jakarta Concert Orchestra, led by conductor Avip Priatna. To promote this worthy event and raise awareness of Happy Hearts Fund’s noble mission, Prestige Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Ronald Liem invited nine of Indonesia’s top entrepreneurs, business leaders, actors and models to host the event and pose for special portraits at Keraton at The Plaza for this issue of the magazine.
