Endless discoveries

-

highlights of my year has been watching DestinAsian Media Group celebrate its first 15 years. The milestone was commemorated with an amazing Gala, attended by about 500 of the elite of high society, among them business leaders, esteemed entrepreneurs and top celebrities. In this issue, relive the night to remember in 42 pages of exclusive Gala coverage.

When I launched in 2001, I certainly could not see what the future would bring for my travel magazine. All I had was a vision to provide ideas and inspirations for luxury travellers in Asia. I wanted to share the joy of discovering new things in new places with new people, a life- long affinity I owe my mother who took me to different corners of the world since I was little.

The curiosity to always discover the unknown is what keeps me going to this day. Fifteen years and five titles later, I still feel like a kid in a candy shop when I unwrap new issues of my magazines. Of course, times are changing and the print industry is going through a tough time, but deep inside, I believe there will always be a place for quality print content. After all, content is king.

In keeping with the times, we have launched Prestige Online ( prestigeonline.com/id) to provide you with fresh content from the world of fashion, high-society, jewellery and travel. We’re also striving to always provide up-to-date content through our social media channels.

The December issue is one of my personal favourites, because it is the time to give well- deserved credit to the trailblazers in high society, fashion, entertainment and social media. This year, the ever-so- elegant Widi Wardhana, whom I am grateful to call a good friend, graces the cover. Besides her admirable leadership at work, Widi is supporting husband Wishnu Wardhana, who has taken the role of campaign manager for Agus Yudhoyono and Sylviana Murni for the upcoming DKI Jakarta state election. A role model like her, who is also a devoted mother of two, embodies a true icon that never goes out style.

We are also honouring Amalia Wirjono, who has turned her belief that art is for all into Art Dept, an innovative venture that shows young people art is not supposed to be intimidating. Also in the It List are Veronica Colondam and her tireless spirit to serve others, Ari Seputra and Inneke Margarethe who redefine the meaning of ready-to-wear in Indonesia, and many more. These outstanding figures inspire us to keep pushing boundaries.
