Making an impact

-

SHINTA NURFAUZIA GRADUATED from University of Indonesia and Harvard Law School. But she subsequently decided that a career as a lawyer was not for her. Instead, she opted for entrepreneurship. She is the 29-year- old co-founder and CEO of Lemonilo, which bills itself as Indonesia’s “leading ecosystem for healthy lifestyle”.

Says Shinta: “Lemonilo is the first online marketplace in Indonesia that focuses in bringing together sellers and buyers of healthy natural products. Our mission is to ensure that healthy living can be done as early as possible, in an easy and affordable way. Aside from being a marketplace, we also have networks of resellers all over Indonesia. We further use the data that we obtain to create natural and organic products that have no local, affordable equivalents, together with Indonesian micro, small & medium enterprises ( MSMEs). We believe that everybody, no matter what class of society they are in, is entitled to be healthy, and that 80 percent of this will come from the products that we consume. Our dream is to provide affordable natural and organic products, so that more people can access them and enjoy healthy living with their loved ones.”

“My goal in life has always to empower people and contribute to society. The goal drives me to study business law. But I finally became certain that I wouldn’t reach my goal by becoming a corporate lawyer. While studying for my Master’s degree, I was also taking business and entrepreneurship classes. I was drawn to entrepreneurship and startups because, through entrepreneurship and technology, I witnessed real examples of how hard-working, bright young people could make a direct impact on society.”
