Fluid Colour
Renowned Indonesian fashion designer, Sebastian Gunawan, along with his partner Christina Panarese, launched his latest collection at the Hotel Mulia Senayan Ballroom, on Friday, September 21. Titled Cromia that means colour in Greek, the collection is inspired by Henri Matisse, a French fauvism artist who’s known for his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. His paintings expressed emotion with wild, often dissonant colours without regard for the subject’s natural colours. “Matisse’s audacity to juxtapose colours and his strong two-dimensional form inspired us to create these colourful collection.” says the designer.
Cristina Panaresse also adds, “Other than shape, we also explores contrasting colours that’s quite unusual for the eyes, disharmonious and wild, but intrinsically beautiful.” The show is opened by a pink 3D top and green damask palazzo pants that defines the whole collection. Gunawan created 88 pieces in total using materials like tulle, taffeta, matelassé, Mikado and jacquard as well as showcasing accessories by Rinaldy A. Yunardi. The designer incorporated all the elements mentioned before with such elegance and opulence that are Sebastian Gunawan trademark. The colourful show is closed by three wedding gowns with exquisite details and embroideries.
