Built into the side wall of an abandoned quarry in south-western Shanghai is IHG’s 200th InterContinentalbranded hotel. Located at Sheshan Mountain Range, the new InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is mostly subterranean, with two floors above ground and 16 below, including two floors underwater. All of its 336 rooms and suites provide sophisticated living spaces with spectacular views of waterfalls and the surrounding cliffs and rooms on the bottom floor are provided with around-the-clock butler service.
