That’s a Wrap
France awarded Diane Von Furstenberg the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur during Paris Fashion Week. The much-admired designer and entrepreneur, aged 73, has sold 15 million of her famous wrap dresses and raised US$100 million for the Statue of Liberty Museum. Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, presented Diane with the prestigious medal, saying: “Your wrap dress beautifies women’s bodies without restricting them or burdening them with too much sophistication. The woman clothed by Diane Von Furstenberg is free in her movement and free to take life into her own hands.” In a post on Instagram, Diane said: “The honour of receiving the Légion d’Honneur from the hands of Christine Lagarde is as great as the honour itself. My heart is filled with gratitude.”
