Situated at the heart of Berawa, Canggu, Good Mantra (+62 822 6187 9977) is a new café in the area that brings bright flavours, a community spirit and wholesome plant-based dishes. Helmed by Chef Don Hammond, Good Mantra’s menu is focused on unique ingredients from small neighbouring farms. These range from nut-milks, granolas to relishes and sauces, with the exception of breads which come from Baked just down the road. All-day breakfast offerings include sunblushed tomato, avocado and herbed hummus on sourdough, vanilla buckwheat hotcakes and coconut yoghurt with seasonal fruit and granola. Meanwhile, lunch is all about big-energy salads – with some of the vegetables sourced from Hammond’s own garden – along with roasted baby spuds, sweet potato and sweet seed brittle, sandwiches such as the focaccia with baked vegetables and a slathering of plantbased mayo. If you’re craving for extra energy, there’s a burger with a black bean and herb patty, hand-cut chips with skins on, or, for a classic with a plant-based twist, the Mushroom Schnitty Parma will do the job.
