EDITOR’S LETTER
By now, most of us are probably glad that 2020 is coming to a close. It has been, without doubt, one of the toughest years in living memory. However, it has also been a year that highlighted the best of us. For the past few episodes, Prestige Indonesia has brought you stories of heroes, of people who have gone out of their way to help those in need, people who create opportunities for those who have lost their livelihoods as well as those who thrive in adversity while at same time lifting up people around them.
In a way, 2020 has been a distressing year; at the same time, it has seen so many inspiring stories as well.
That is why our usual It List feature is a bit different this time. Less, shall we say, festive and more a celebration of the human spirit, especially in terms of our capacity to rise above adversity and the way we continue to pursue success and stand for what is true. To that end we have stories from designer Didit Hediprasetyo, sociopreneur Wanda Ponika, prominent journalist Najwa Shihab, filmmaker Joko Anwar and actor Jefri Nichol. And on our cover, we have the one and only Bunga Citra Lestari, who shares us her journey of healing.
At the same time, we also bring you new updates from the Dream Wedding initiative we’re involved in. In short, we have our winners. But as it turns out, they are even more deserving than we initially thought. Together with Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta and Time International, we sought to show our appreciation for one lucky medical professional who has worked tirelessly on the frontlines of this crisis we’re in. Instead, we found two who see beyond the competition and seek to inspire whenever they can.
I should also note that this is combined December/January issue of Prestige. Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our myriad partners for your continued support throughout this challenging year. We look forward to working with you again and produce even better content in 2021. And, last but not least, I would like to thank you, our readers, for standing with us all this time. We will see you again in our upcoming February issue.
