EDITOR’S LETTER
Today, more than ever, our lives are dictated by technology. And that might just be a massive understatement. On the other hand, perhaps we do underestimate just how much technology shifts our lifestyles, especially since we tend to think only of the big, flashy revolutions. So, for this mid-year issue of Prestige Indonesia, we took a closer look at some of the less grandiose but still meaningful ways that technology can – and has – changed our lives.
Take, for example, teeth straightening. On hearing that phrase, I bet most of us immediately thought “braces.” Our conversation with Deviana Maria, the lady behind Rata, showed us that that might be changing soon. Or how about grocery shopping. The idea of buying fresh produce from an app is no longer ground-breaking, but the innovations that happen behind the scenes can be quite enlightening, as we learned from our talks with some of the people behind popular services such as HappyFresh and Sayurbox. Or how about women empowerment? What parts does technology play in this facet of our lives? Once again, we’ve gained new insight in one of our highlighted interviews for this issue.
And, to round up our story of how technology marches on beyond new innovations, we partnered up once again with Oppo Indonesia, this time to feature three of the tech company’s brand ambassadors in an exclusive photo shoot for this issue’s cover.
We live in unprecedented times, but in the best possible sense of the phrase. As such, it pays to take a closer look at the myriad ways that advances in technology – along with entrepreneurship and business practices – shape the world we live in.
Of course, we also have myriad other stories and sights to share, from the latest mustvisit eateries to seasonal fashion creations to look out for. As always, happy reading...
