The idea for a unique collaboration came when Kim Jones’s team were sitting around a table at the studio in Rome. Suddenly, the women started looking at their phones. They were awaiting the launch of the new Skims collection by Kim Kardashian. The new FENDI X SKIMS capsule collection is based on an archival collection by Karl Lagerfeld in 1979, which focused on twisted tube tops, pop colours and tight sashes. In the new Skims, formfitting silhouettes materialise in velvet engineered for support, while a gradient nude series of meticulously crafted, bonded leather dresses draw upon Roman aesthetics to offer a statuesque transformation. A palette of shades from Kim’s wardrobe saturates the contemporary beach and shapewear.
