Marking the third collaboration between The Macallan and world-renowned artist Sir Peter Blake, the Anecdotes of Ages Collection is the culmination of a relationship spanning over three decades

THE MACALLAN UNVEILS the Anecdotes of Ages Collection, made up of 13 one-of-a-kind bottles of 1967 whisky which have been selected to commemorate the year where Sir Peter Blake’s collages transcended the world of art and became a part of popular culture.

The whiskies themselves, as noted earlier, are very rare. These are 1967 single malt scotches that have been matured for over fifty years and carefully selected. The result are exceptional spirits that are classic yet distinctly colourful in flavour and full of character – perfectly reminiscent of Sir Peter Blake’s work from the same year. With notes of oak and fig leading to a burst of hazelnut and strawberry, the gorgeous whisky finishes with complex flavours of chocolate and lightly-spiced peach. Each is a whisky so exquisite it’s a work of art in its own right.

The 13 original bottles will be presented in handcrafted European oak cases which incorporate thumbnail photography revealing Sir Peter Blake’s inspirational journey with The Macallan. Each bottle is beautifully hand-blown, features an oak stopper and carries a label signed by Sir Peter Blake. The case then comes with a leather-bound book showcasing all 13 label artworks and stories, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

Interestingly, one of the 13 very rare Anecdote of Ages bottles is being auctioned to raise funds for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum as a part of The Macallan’s strong support for the arts. This auction is conducted by Sotheby’s while the 13th bottle will be kept in The Macallan’s archives.

Furthermore, the very special 1967 single malt scotch will also be released as a part of the Anecdote of Ages Collection: Down to Work Limited Edition, with only 322 bottles made available worldwide.

On a final note, there is also another collection featuring a limited-edition single malt scotch whisky, which is released to commemorate Sir Peter Blake’s visit to The Macallan Estate on the legendary River Spey. Titled An Estate, A Community and A Distillery, the whisky will be displayed in a custom box inspired by Sir Peter Blake’s art. The bottles will be accompanied by a certificate which outlines the history and heritage of the art, along with Sir Peter Blake’s artwork printed on a scroll.
