THE REVIVAL
As vintage fashions and silhouettes are making a comeback on the spring/summer 2022 catwalks, Saint Laurent revives its muse of yesteryear. Yves Saint Laurent was where it all began for legendary ‘70s supermodel Jerry Hall. She wore the designer’s famous tuxedo suit in her very first runway show and was also the face of Yves Saint Laurent’s provocative 1977 Opium Perfume campaign photographed by Helmut Newton. And now, the year is 2022 and Hall once again becomes the face of the house in its spring/summer 2022 campaign. Shot by fashion photographer David Sims, Halls is seen modelling the double-breasted tailored dress in grain de Poudre, a fabric commonly used to create tailcoats and tuxedos. The dress features a peaked lapel and two welt pockets with a flap as the classic tuxedo blazer is transformed into an ultra-chic, little black dress for the modern era.
