Unity in Diversity
The colourful variety of cultures in Indonesia has been an inspiration for many, including Mel Ahyar. Embracing the colours of the country, the designer collaborated with Rabbanin Project and Cita Tenun Indonesia, launching the Mel Ahyar ARCHIPELAGO Kawin Campur collection, which means “intercultural marriage” in Indonesian. The launch event was held at the end of last Martch, at Ashta District 8. The collection itself is built on 12 traditional weave patterns representing various regions in Indonesia, each with its own unique characteristics. When combined, the patterns are transformed into magical pieces that embody the harmonization and the unity of Indonesian culture. All in all, the collection encompasses 18 outers, three long dresses, and four shirts.
