And Then There Was Light
Against all odds, art has been one the few consistently uplifting elements in the past couple of years. On that note, Denpasar-born artist Putu Winata presented a solo exhibition titled “Seeds of Light.” Officiated by Bara K. Hasibuan, the exhibition serves as a way for Winata to voice his vision of hope, and as a way to heal the emotional pain suffered by many. A number of abstract pieces are featured in this exhibition, including a series of Harapan – Indonesian for “hope” – paintings. Other expressive artworks include Manusia dalam Cahaya (“Man in Light”), Bisikan Kedamaian (“A Whisper of Peace”), and Kerinduan (“Longing”). The “Seeds of Light” solo exhibition was opened on April 2 and runs until May 2 at D Gallerie Jakarta.
