A PLAY ON MINIMALISM
RODO injects unparalleled elegance through minimalism in its autumn/ winter 2022 collection.
INCEPTED IN 1956, RODO counts itself among the most prominent names when it comes to shoes. For more than 70 years, the house has demonstrated sartorial finesse and excellent creativity, experimenting with different shapes and new materials. For this year’s autumn/winter period, the brand presents a bi-seasonal collection that boasts the aesthetics of minimalism, giving birth to a range of elegant, wholesome looks for both day and night.
The collection is informed by silky smooth materials blended with vibrant hues, resulting in a radiant effect that adds more colour to the cooler season’s looks. Case in point: the Dafne 80 shoes, one of the highlights of RODO’s latest collection. These slingbacks feature a covered cone heel, a slick construction, and an Art-Deco style buckle. The shoes are further adorned with baguette and square crystals that the house’s artisans applied entirely by hand. The Dafne 80 shoes come in a plethora of iterations, including blue, black, lime, and amethyst to complete a day look.
As the moon rises, minimalism is transformed into maximalism. In the hands of RODO’s designers, less becomes more. For the evening looks of the season, the key piece featured is the Anthea bag. Much loved by celebrities, this particular bag is characterized by its semi-rigid structure which is softened by precious satin. The Deco-inspired crystal baguette – the same embellishment that adorns the Dafne 80 – has also found its home on the clutch, serving as a buckle. In terms of versatility, the Anthea bag allows its wearer to carry it by hand or rock it over the shoulder, thanks to the shoulder chain fixed to the creation. The colourways of the Dafne 80 are also made available for the Anthea bag, with several additional iterations, including suede and crocodile-motif leather versions.
All and all, RODO’s new collection for the season presents an exquisite play on minimalism. With high-quality satin, a plethora of bold colours, and crystalline embellishments, the highlights of the collection illustrate luxury in simplicity while reflecting the house’s exceptional sartorial know-how. Paired well with everything from denim trousers to evening gowns, the collection serves as a midpoint between the informal and the formal, bringing elegance to both day and night looks.
