From the streets of Sydney to the islands of the Maldives, Peap Tarr and Lisa Mam have left their mark on the world with their stunning urban art. The couple met in Cambodia in 2011 and have been creating eye-catching murals that fuse their diverse backgrounds and cultures, earning them recognition and admiration from fans and brands.
Tarr was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and grew up in Sydney, Australia, where he became immersed in hip-hop culture and graffiti art. Influenced by his Cambodian heritage and Kiwi upbringing, he honed his signature style using black ink and signwriting paint. His debut came in 2005 at the Disrupt Gallery in New Zealand with a show titled ArtBeatz.
Mam, a native of Phnom Penh, is a talented artist and practising dentist. She balances her passion for art and dentistry while also being a pioneer in Cambodia’s urban art scene. Known for her large-scale murals that combine traditional Khmer elements with modern styles, Mam creates her unique aesthetic.
The two artists found each other in Cambodia in 2011; since then, they’ve collaborated on various local and global projects, and showcasing their versatility and creativity by partnering with brands such as Stussy Japan, Stella Artois, Starbucks, Air Asia, and Coca-Cola. They’ve also exhibited work in venues such as the Lotus Art de Vivre in Bangkok, the Cacha Hotel in Paris and the Kuramathi Island Resort in the Maldives.
Tarr and Mamm have a mini-book in the works that documents their artistic journey and their dynamic partnership. Published by Soi Books, it will feature their amazing murals and the stories behind them. More than just artists, they’re the inspiring power couple of urban art.
